First Rejection Letter of 2019

Rejection, Huzzah

Not many people would be excited about receiving a rejection letter, and I’m thrilled that my work has been rejected. However, I am sure there are plenty of you out there who are also receiving your first rejection letter of 2019. While this isn’t fun, I do want to congratulate everyone who has received a rejection letter this year. Whether it be your first or your 50th, the fact that you submitted at all is a wonderful achievement.

Consequently, submitting means you are putting yourself out there to be rejected. If you have received a rejection this year, please don’t be disheartened. Every single writer that has ever existed has been rejected. The ones that find success are the ones that never stop trying in the face of rejection. Theodore Roosevelt said:


If he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

This quote has always spoken to me. It is a wonderful reminder that rejection is inevitable. However, true failure is only achieved if you choose to stop trying. Above all, keep trying, keep writing, and wear those rejections as badges. They are minor rewards toward your great victory.
